According to J.D. Power and ssociates, a consumer satisfaction researcher, American Express card rates as the top credit card for customer satisfaction. Discover card follows closely in second place.

The study takes five factors into account: fees and interest rates, billing services, benefits and services, credit card rewards programs and customer service interaction.

Out of 1,000 possible points, American Express card received a score of 781, making it the top credit card. Discover card received 751 points, for second place.

According to Rocky Clancy, executive director of financial services and J.D. Power, American Express and Discover are very different cards, appealing to different markets. Top credit card AMEX attracts customers seeking benefits and rewards, and who are willing to pay higher fees for this added value. On the other hand, Discover markets more to consumers who want simplicity in their card, no annual fees, cash rewards and fewer problems.
